Diversity & Inclusion

Our commitment

At AmeriHealth Caritas, we believe a diverse company is a strong company. Through our culture of inclusion, we are able to effectively serve our members, support diverse suppliers, and engage our employees.

We're proud to be a part of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ program. With our pledge to promote diversity through education and community engagement, we are cultivating a more inclusive workplace while putting diverse partnerships first.

Diversity and inclusion (D&I) is woven into the fabric of our organization, and not just because it's the right thing to do — it's also good business. Research shows that companies with ethnic, cultural, or gender diversity on executive teams are more likely to be profitable than those without it.

By embracing different cultures, genders, ages, and abilities, we not only make ourselves stronger — we can more effectively build healthy communities across the country.

leadership
Our Employees
We don’t just want to hire diverse talent; we want to create an inclusive, supportive workplace. Through training, associate resource groups, and professional development, we are able to invest in our diverse employees, who then invest themselves in our members.
flexible working
Our Diverse Suppliers
We work to accurately reflect the diversity of the neighborhoods we serve. That's why we partner with, and mentor, businesses owned by minorities, women, and disabled veterans.

Employee Diversity

At AmeriHealth Caritas, our commitment to diversity starts with the employees we hire, and the internal culture of respect and inclusion we foster.

With thousands of employees across the nation and a multicultural headcount that makes up just over half of our total employees, we make it a priority to represent and reflect the communities we live and work in, and the members we serve.
Recruiting We are an equal opportunity employer, and do not discriminate on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
Training We offer a variety of training on topics such as cultural competence, health equity, and unconscious bias.
Associate Resource Groups Open to all employees, our ARGs offer additional opportunities for engagement, community service, and professional development. We currently have active ARGs for women, employees with disabilities, and veterans, with more on the way.
Professional Development Through programs like the Urban Leadership Forum (ULF), employees who are emerging leaders can build relationships, get support and inspiration to reach their goals, and make positive impacts on their communities.
Summer Internships

At AmeriHealth Caritas, care is the heart of our work. The student internship program supports our role as national leaders in caring for the poor and chronically ill.

AmeriHealth Caritas offers internships across business units at sites throughout the country, but most positions are at our corporate headquarters in the Philadelphia region. We may have roles available in health care administration, public health, business, information technology, marketing, communications, and more.

Community Engagement Healthy Hoops helps kids on and off the court. We created this hands-on basketball event to reduce preventable emergency room visits and improve quality of life for children ages 3 to 18. Healthy Hoops teaches kids, parents, and communities how to manage children’s asthma and other health conditions. Since the program's 2002 debut in Philadelphia, we've expanded Healthy Hoops to Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
